Firstly, if you haven’t read the blog about our new series of ‘LIVEwire’ events, check it out here. This is our biggest series of events yet and we’re absolutely buzzing that they’re finally out there in the world.
We return to Byline Festival in Sussex for the third year running. Our ‘LIVEwire’ Salon is a proven hit at the festival, and this year we have no fewer than twelve renegade poets performing for you at some point over the weekend. We’re on late on the Friday and Sunday nights.
Byline is a unique and dynamic festival which celebrates independent journalism and freedom of speech, whilst also targeting corruption and bias in the media, as well as prejudice in wider society.
This year’s festival sees Pussy Riot return for another headline set, as well as a huge range of talks, workshops, screenings, performances and more. Click here for more info and tickets.
We’d like to say a colossal thank you to all of the poets who performed at our ‘LIVEwire’ events in 2018. We staged a UN Women #HeForShe event in London in March, we delivered the ‘LIVEwire Salon’ to Byline Festival in August, and plus a quarterly night at Seven Arts in Leeds.
The ‘LIVEwire’ events will be a big focus for us in 2019, and we’re excited to hear from potential festivals, venues and producers. These events champion troubled poets; rebels and renegades; personal and political voices that rally against the establishment. We pride ourselves on programming a diverse range of acts from around the UK.
After going down a storm at the very first Byline Festival last June, we’ve been invited to return with our #LIVEwire Salon for 2018’s festival.
Join us at the Backline Stage on the Friday and Sunday nights, as we present a relentless wave of fiery, political and cutting-edge spoken word poetry. Curated by Byline’s Poet Laureate Salena Godden and N&T founder Matt Abbott.
