Some of you will have attended one of our ‘LIVEwire’ events over the last 5 years. And we’ll keep staging them, in various shapes and sizes, whenever the opportunities present themselves. But if ‘LIVEwire’ has a home in Leeds, it’s Hyde Park Book Club. And so, in introducing a regular event in Farsley, we decided to create a new night altogether.
So, we’re dead excited to introduce ‘Tubthumping’, which we’re presenting at The Constitutional in partnership with the team behind Trouble At Mill and The Old Woollen. As always, it’ll provide a rip-roaring evening of the UK’s finest spoken word poetry talent. And we’ll have a showcase section at each event, featuring some of the best emerging talent in West Yorkshire.

Our first episode of 2021 was a ‘Mrs Death Misses Death’ special, with Salena Godden’s hotly anticipated novel being published by Canongate on Thursday!
The first half of the show contained segments recorded in isolation by Matt and Amah-Rose, with the second half of the show containing an in-depth interview with Salena as well as audiobook excerpts and tracks from the book’s official playlist.
After being exclusively available on Bandcamp for a short while, our ‘Birds’ single and the four ‘LIVEwire x Lockdown’ singles are now available through all major digital stores and streaming platforms.

The track is part of a Tongue Fu project – produced by Chris Redmond – which was supported by Arts Council England’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Funds.
We commissioned Leeds-based artist Saifur Rehmaan Manzoor-Khan to create the illustration for the artwork, and Liz Counsell edited the video. If you’re interested in featuring us on a site or in a publication, the press release is here.
